Benefit Pink Palace HQ Visit

I got to tour the PINK PALACE aka Benefit's HQ. It was amazing and amazingly pink. So, I’m clearly in love with Benefit and I love even more that they are a brand born and raised in SF, that's still based here. They genuinely have some of my go to makeup. The concealer, brow gel + brow pencil, and hula bronzer are ALWAYS in my makeup bag and the shadow has become a new favorite thing along with a few other products I’ve included below.

Me and Moni are back at it but this time with a celebrity make-up tutorial. We decided to recreate a look from one of my girl crushes Gigi Hadid. I love the dark lip and soft wide eyed look. Luckily, I had a pro to help me try a more dramatic look for the first time. Check out our tutorial to recreate the look yourself. How I really feel about having a baby

We are having a baby!

We are officially becoming parents. We did it, and wasted no time. I figured I'd share our baby announcement, baby announcement video, and let you know that the blog now officially has a Mommy and Me section. Yay! I don't want to overwhelm IG with baby facts, but for anyone curious I wanted to journal about pregnancy and share the ups (and downs) along the way. This will be where that all happens, and I am so insanely excited about it!

First of all I will address the timeline, I get lots of questions since I'm 9 weeks pregnant but got married only 7 weeks ago. Here's how it works and something that can be a little confusing. At the doctors, they calculate your due date based on the first day of your last period, which was 2 weeks before my wedding day. Thankfully my period tracker apps tracked correctly. I chose my wedding day hoping to not be on girl time. Thank goodness that worked out. All that to say, we probably got pregnant a few days after our wedding day, as that's when the tracker said I was ovulating.

E20B5083.jpg

Okay, now for the day I found out. May 27th, 2018.

To be completely honest, after the excitement of the EPT letting me know I had a mini human growing inside of me, I had a moment of sheer panic. YES, I'll admit it. I panicked! I'm sure not all moms have this moment, but I'm positive I'm not alone. After the baby buzz news fades, you sit down and realize that you have only 9 months of selfishness left. It's a mind-boggling thought, at least for me. I will never again be thinking of only my wants and needs. Yes, married life is very similar but at the end of the day Coulter, my hubby, can fully take care of himself (well he can 80% take care of himself). A baby though, that is forever changing. So, if you're like me and had the moment of panic, I just wanted you to know... you are not alone!

The optimist in me however always finds the positive. I have four sets of grandparents who will adore this baby and help, an amazing husband who gets to work from home a lot, babysitters are always available for hire, and at the end of the day, I can and will continue to follow my passions. I don't have to stop working if I don't want to. I can keep being selfish, sometimes when I really really need to. And at the end of the day, I realized that not much would change, I would just have a little buddy to do everything with (although the amount of time it takes to do things will be exponentially longer!).

I am SO excited to have a mini-me/Coulter. I am SO excited that my life IS indeed going to change. I am SO excited to become a mommy. It's such an amazing and fun time.

Now for more realness.

I didn't realize just how tired you are during your first trimester. OH. M. GEE. I've been lucky with having light bouts of morning sickness, my sister was sick daily. I do feel nauseous often but realized eating little bits and keeping my stomach "coated" helps. Due to this, I've already gained 5+ lbs because of this new found need to constantly eat. Oh well! Plus did I mention the insane bloating? BYE JEANS! Next up is the sleepiness, you basically find out there's nothing you can do but embrace it and sleep and relax more. I'm still trying with that one.

At the end of the day, my body is doing something extraordinary. I am growing a human! Of course I'm sleepy, nauseous, lethargic, hungry, and all the other amazing 1st trimester symptoms. I'm taking the ole' "if you can't beat em, join em" mentality and embracing it.

Coulter is ECSTATIC, he talked me into having a baby FAR sooner than my original timeline. I suppose it's not the norm for the guy to be convincing the girl to hurry up and have kids, but we live in a very feminist age so I loved it. He plays cool in this video, but he is GENUINELY far more excited than I am, with zero hesitations. It's adorable and inspiring and keeps me in amazing spirits... even when I'm throwing up or waking up at 1am, 3am, and 5am to pee.

We cannot wait to meet our little girl/boy! ... and I am so excited to share this journey with any of you who want to come along for the ride. Be sure to keep checking back on the blog for more updates throughout my pregnancy and more behind the scenes into my journey to motherhood.

With love,

Chantelle Paige-Mulligan

A Day in the Life of a Blogger

day in the life

of a fashion & lifestyle blogger

Have you ever wondered how bloggers take their photos, plan their shoots, how it really works, and if they shoot photos every day? Well, here's a sneak peek into a photoshoot to let you in on how shoots work, at least in my world. While sometimes I do take photos the day I'm wearing a cute outfit, a lot of the time I set up a shoot and take pics of 3-5 outfits at the same time. That way, when I do wear them, I don't have to make sure that I have someone to take my photo on hand. Shhhhh... don't tell anyone. Major blogger secret revealed! This is how all of the bloggers I know do it as well, I mean who gets THAT ready every day, right? I'm currently in no makeup, sweats, drinking a coffee while I write this at home... and I plan to stay that way most of the day. You see, so often I don't see anyone during my work day. That's the beauty of working for yourself, you can wear sweats all day if you want. So shoots happen where I put on all the outfits at once and get dolled up. We take a bunch of photos and while a lot of the time I do go back to my favorite places I've visited that week, or recreate fun moments snuggling my animals, sometimes I honestly just walk around the corner from my house and snap away! Well, now you know. So, if you were feeling bad today scrolling through IG and wondering how all these people get so perfectly ready every day, now you know their little secret. My daily routine is far more low maintenance than most of my photos may make you think.

Stay beautiful, leave the house in just a little CC cream and mascara, and own it! We all do it. Want to see more behind the scenes from our day to day? I've included our BTS video from our photoshoot below.

Babes at Bottlerock

BottleRock Music Festival

in Napa Valley was amazing!

Since I just turned 30 I have this thought in the back of my head that festivals are only for the 20somethings. NOT TRUE. Rachel and I had a blast (plus she brought her baby and I brought Coulter on our second day). We decided to take on day one (the actual day 2 of the concert) of the festival just us girls, and it was perfect. We ran around exploring, ate wayy too much food, and listened to amazing music. We saw some artists that we knew such as E40, The Killers, and Snoop Dogg and then other artists that we discovered like Oh Wonder and The Head and The Heart. We got asked to take some pictures for BottleRock and we were honored when we showed up on their Instagram feed (woop woop). Needless to say we left filling very fulfilled.

What I Wore:

Skirt and Top by Anine Bing

Sunglasses by Krewe

My day one outfit wasn't exactly what I would call your typical festival attire but I fell in love with this combo for Anine Bing and wanted to wear something different and unexpected. The yellow silk skirt and matching ankle booties received tons of compliments as did my favorite new glasses that I picked up from Krewe in New Orleans.

What Rachel Wore:

Top by Zara

Skirt by XIXpalms

Shoes by Zaful

Glasses by Diff

Scarf by Vintage

Rachel edged up this XIXpalms skirt and wore it in an equally unexpected way with a leather crop top and motorcycle boots. She added a vintage scarf she picked up in her trip to New Orleans and some vintage-inspired sunglasses from Diff Eyewear to complete her outfit.

Day 3 of BottleRock, was our Day 2.

I rushed in to hear my bestie and bridesmaid, Liz Huett, perform on the big stage. So dang proud. She killed it!!!!! I was late, as always, and Coulter offered to hold my bag so I could walk through the MUCH shorter no bag line. I made it halfway through her first song, he made it in by about song 3.5! This is why I married him ;)

Liz ended up having a second performance on the acoustic stage. We got some food/coffee and ventured over to hear round two! She annihilated it! I hung out with Rachel and baby Lennon who was rocking the cutest noise canceling headphones... such a little rockstar. Then, Liz ended up getting us backstage and we danced our butts off to Halsey, I am in LOVE with her! It was so dang fun. Coulter tore his achilles recently and was champing it out post-surgery but I decided to be a nice wife and leave pre-Bruno Mars so he didn't have to stand from 12am-11pm.

Video: Recreate my Bridal Makeup in 15 minutes

I loved my bridal makeup so much I recreated it for an every day look.

IMG_5209.JPG

I was so in love with the natural glowing makeup that Moni created for my wedding day that I asked her to translate it into a 15 minute look that I can wear any day. We used all of the makeup from my big day but limited the time we spent in order to make this a realistic every day look. How much do you love it? You can never really go wrong with a nude eye, glowing skin and pink lip. To learn how to recreate this look yourself see our full tutorial and shopping guide below.

Video: My Bridal Shower

With just one week left until I walk down the aisle, I wanted to take a second to share some of my pre-wedding events with you all. Starting with my bachelorette brunch hosted by Birdies and now with my beautiful bridal shower hosted by my Maid of Honor and sister Savannah. Not only was the shower beautifully bohemian but it was a great time to share with my friends, family and bridesmaids. We played games, shared stories and feasted on far too many delicious sweets. Enjoy!
