ANIMAL STYLE, COACHELLA INSPIRATION (3)

SHE’S A WILD ONE…. COACHELLA EDITION

To continue my week of FOMO while I wait to see all of the festival looks pop up on Instagram, here are two more of my “if I was going to Coachella this is what I’d wear” looks!

Let’s stop by In-N-Out on the way, cause I’m in the mood for some fries… ANIMAL STYLE!

LOOK 1

I’ve really started to come around to animal prints, especially when it’s a bright and colorful twist on the traditional leopard print. I love the combination between a casual cotton t-shirt and a silky printed skirt. I also love the fact that I could dance the night away, ride the ferris wheel, AND lounge around in this skirt length without losing the comfort factor. It’s an unexpected hem length to find at Coachella, which makes it even more fashionable in my opinion.

  2. Minnie Mouse Lauren Moshi Tee exact item (similar inexpensive)

  3. Kendal & Kylie boot exact (inexpensive Kendal & Kylie)

Look 2: Oh, Miss Marilyn

I’m feeling some major Monroe vibes in this photo. I don’t know if it’s the hair, the car, or the animal prints, but this look feels super flirty. I love the heart shaped belt bag from weat and modern take on side swept waves. This stack of bobby pins by Sincerely Jules adds just the right amount of bling. Oh, and I finally found the right outfit to pair with these glittering ankle boots. It’s funny how they almost become a neutral piece in this busy combination. This look just feels fresh for Coachella right now. It really brings back those 50s screen siren inspiration. Any one have a mic?

EASY FESTIVAL HAIR #COACHELLA

Easy Festival Hair with Bobby Pins

Festival season is the perfect opportunity to experiment, especially with your hair and makeup. That said, not everyone has a beauty squad with them to help them get Coachella ready. You all already packing tons of amazing festival looks so I’m going to make your life a little easier, and your carry-on a little lighter. Here are two beautiful and simple festival inspired looks that you can quickly recreate on your own. The best part? All you need to pack is a case of bobby pins.

Look 1: More is More

You know that quote about taking one thing off before you leave the house? Well, ignore that for this look. Pile on a row of decorative bobby pins to create a look that’s one part retro and one part bubble gum pop star. Start with loose textured waves created with a barrel curling iron or softly braid your hair the night before for low maintenence texture. Next, add a side part and pile on the pins. Expert tip: Be sure to flip the bobby pins, randomly in both directly to create an effortlessly cool vibe.

What you need:

  1. Textured Waves

  2. Salt Spray

  3. A handful of decorative bobby pins

Look 2: Geometry Class

All this look requires is a friend (or a hand mirror) to help you see the back of your head. Just slide a few colorful bobby pins into waved and teased hair to create a beautiful geometric design along your crown.

What you need:

  1. Textured Waves

  2. Salt Spray

  3. A handful of colorful bobby pins

LAID BACK COACHELLA LOOKS (2)

LAID BACK COACHELLA LOOKS

Who says Coachella outfits have to be limited to fringe, cut-offs, and bikini tops? Sometimes a girl just wants to feel effortless, quirky, and comfortable. Here are my Coachella inspired laid-back looks to help you plan for this upcoming festival weekend.

Look 1: Retro Sorbet Colored Corduroys

Cropped, cute and colorful. Do you need anything else in a perfect pair of over-alls? I think not. The high-waist makes these flattering and I love the retro racing stripes down the side. Pairing this look with a simple tee and white sneakers keeps it feeling fresh and minimal. I nice contrast from your typical over-the-top festival inspired looks. Best part? I would totally rewear these in day to day mom life.

What you need:

  1. Corduroy Overalls - EXACT from Camp (similar in pink here and here)

  2. Creative Sneakers - Exact here (similar and my other fav tennis shoe here and in pink here)

  3. A Simple Simple White Tee here and here

  4. A scrunchy for when you’ve danced too much and need to throw your hair up! My cousin’s brand Lemonelle!

Look 2: All White Everything

Because why not? You already know your outfit will be covered in dust when the festival is finished, so why not take the opportunity to rock head to toe white? I’ll say one thing, you will stay cool and stand out in a very casual way! Add a bandana to cover up your mouth if the dust starts to go crazy ;) There is no better time than a festival to pull up your hair and not worry about it, which is why I rocked a half up with this look. Want to recreate it? Check out my tips below.

What you need:

  1. Sporty White Shirt (exact from ASTARS)

  2. Drop Crotch White Joggers (exact from ASTARS)

  3. Creative Sneakers (exact from Andrew Stevens)

  4. Amazing Earrings

  5. Scrunchy (exact from Lemonelle)

Babes at Bottlerock

BottleRock Music Festival

in Napa Valley was amazing!

Since I just turned 30 I have this thought in the back of my head that festivals are only for the 20somethings. NOT TRUE. Rachel and I had a blast (plus she brought her baby and I brought Coulter on our second day). We decided to take on day one (the actual day 2 of the concert) of the festival just us girls, and it was perfect. We ran around exploring, ate wayy too much food, and listened to amazing music. We saw some artists that we knew such as E40, The Killers, and Snoop Dogg and then other artists that we discovered like Oh Wonder and The Head and The Heart. We got asked to take some pictures for BottleRock and we were honored when we showed up on their Instagram feed (woop woop). Needless to say we left filling very fulfilled.

What I Wore:

Skirt and Top by Anine Bing

Sunglasses by Krewe

My day one outfit wasn't exactly what I would call your typical festival attire but I fell in love with this combo for Anine Bing and wanted to wear something different and unexpected. The yellow silk skirt and matching ankle booties received tons of compliments as did my favorite new glasses that I picked up from Krewe in New Orleans.

What Rachel Wore:

Top by Zara

Skirt by XIXpalms

Shoes by Zaful

Glasses by Diff

Scarf by Vintage

Rachel edged up this XIXpalms skirt and wore it in an equally unexpected way with a leather crop top and motorcycle boots. She added a vintage scarf she picked up in her trip to New Orleans and some vintage-inspired sunglasses from Diff Eyewear to complete her outfit.

Day 3 of BottleRock, was our Day 2.

I rushed in to hear my bestie and bridesmaid, Liz Huett, perform on the big stage. So dang proud. She killed it!!!!! I was late, as always, and Coulter offered to hold my bag so I could walk through the MUCH shorter no bag line. I made it halfway through her first song, he made it in by about song 3.5! This is why I married him ;)

Liz ended up having a second performance on the acoustic stage. We got some food/coffee and ventured over to hear round two! She annihilated it! I hung out with Rachel and baby Lennon who was rocking the cutest noise canceling headphones... such a little rockstar. Then, Liz ended up getting us backstage and we danced our butts off to Halsey, I am in LOVE with her! It was so dang fun. Coulter tore his achilles recently and was champing it out post-surgery but I decided to be a nice wife and leave pre-Bruno Mars so he didn't have to stand from 12am-11pm.
